The #1 Reason Why You Should Have An Attitude

I’m not talking about the eye-rolling, teeth sucking, don’t-mess-with-me kinda attitude.

I’m talking about an attitude of gratitude.

Are you thankful for all of the wonderful possessions, people and opportunities that you have in your life? Did you know that we should even be grateful for the negative as well because it is only in comparison that we can recognize and appreciate the good. I’m sure you’ve heard it said that until you appreciate what you have, you will never have more and even if you do, you’ll never be satisfied. Well, I’m not one for believing everything I hear, so I test theories such as these to see if they work  and it just so happens that I’ve found this one to be true. As I became more grateful for what I had, I became much more receptive to recognizing more. Not only was I more open to recognizing more, but I actually received more in so many areas of my life.

When you adopt an attitude of gratitude–being truly grateful for your blessings–you open yourself up to attracting more of the possessions, people and experiences that you want into your life.

I’ve been keeping a gratitude journal for several years. Each day, in a small notebook, I jot down 5 things I’m grateful for. I’ve even downloaded a gratitude app on my iPhone, but I recently stumbled upon a wonderful website promoting gratitude. It’s called the 21 Day Gratitude Challenge and it sparked an idea that I’d like to share with you all:

Let’s complete the challenge together and head into the summer with a new attitude!

The Gratitude Challenge

For 21 Days, starting this Wednesday June 1st, we will commit to being mindful and conscious of our thoughts and actions in a way that will help us to bring more gratitude into our lives. For each of the 21 days, there is a simple task or activity that must be completed in the pursuit of increasing the positivity in our lives.

All you’ll need to participate is a small notebook (to keep a few  notes each week) and a commitment of 30 minutes a week to participate in 3 free teleconferences that will take place on June 8th, 15th, and 22nd. That’s when we’ll share our challenges and our successes. You’ll be able to  tell us whether or not the theory behind the gratitude challenge is proving true in your life.

The Invitation

I invite you to participate in this challenge with me and the other remarkable women who pledge to join in. There’s no registration process and there’s no fee. There’s nothing to do except show up, share and reap the benefits. However, I am going to ask you to do me two small favors:

What  3 values did you select? Similar to the other questions, ask us on any given day and our answers  might be different depending on our mood, but in fact our true values do not change. They remain the same because they are the ones we act on. Those are the values that communicate and shape who we are. They are the values that create the “self” that others see. Are the values you say are important to you the values you demonstrate?  Ask someone you know to tell you what they think are 3 important values to you. The answers could be very revealing!
